coffee good. morning bad.

Well, I've had a pretty decent morning considering that it's a Saturday and I got out of bed before 9 am. I love sleeping in, especially on Saturdays when I have nothing planned. I love not setting an alarm and just waking up when I wake up. no rush. It's a guilty pleasure for sure, but that wasn't the case this morning. I had a make-up voice lesson at 11 with Dr. J and needed to finish memorizing my last piece for juries and warm-up the trusty chords before I went and sang for him! Success: last piece memorized, had one bangin' last voice lesson of the semester, went out to lunch with the Solange ...and I know as you can see, I'm once again sittin' in CG studying away! Christian Heritage is my first final on Wednesday morning at 9am! woop! sic 'em! So here's to a productive Saturday!

Your Highness...

So how many of you crazy people got up at the CRACK OF DAWN to watch the Royal Wedding?? anyone? anyone? Come on and admit it! Well I hope you enjoyed watching, as I snoozed away in my nice comfy dorm room bed before my 9 o'clock class this morning! Yep, TiVo is my friend. Any other geniuses think of that? hehe I'm not gonna lie, I do wanna see it, but not at 5 in the morning! Can you tell I'm not a morning person? :-P

So I've seen some pretty crazy memorabilia out there, but this one takes the cake! and not just a slice, THE WHOLE CAKE!

Forget magnets! Buy a whole dang fridge with their picture on it...really...?

Brown in a Coffee Shop

So I'm not a photographer, by any means, but it's definitely something that I enjoy doing. I always see scenes during my day and wish I could capture them, but sometimes my little EasyShare Kodak doesn't do quite the job I want it to. I always wish I have a better camera than the one I have now, and have been meaning to save up for one forever... maybe that'll be something I'll do this summer! For now, here's a pic I snapped today during a study session:

this one happened to be captured on my iPhone, and it's edited by my new obsession of an app, Instagram.
I just loved all the brown. so *snap*

shop 'til ya drop!

Well, I don't think there is any better phrase to describe the day mom and I have had! PHEW! She pulled up to the curb of my dorm at 1 and we haven't stopped since! We went to the neighborhood Walmart and bought all the yummy ingredients for the casserole. After that we went and dropped off everything and put the milk and eggs and such in the refridge! Then it was time for lunch:

mom's salad

aren't we so cute with
our matching olive green tops?!!
(a total accident btw)

my salad, with yummy spiced apples :)

Mom wanted to go to the mall, so that's just what we did....hehe and what was going to be a quick run in, turned into a good 4 hour spree of shoppin' Hey no complaints! If anyone can shop it's me and my mom! We are bargain hunters to the max! I found 2 new dresses, a good 8 new tops (I love XXI), and 2 new performance worthy heels :) Clearance is my friend! weeeeeeeee
Now, we're off to dinner....and OH YEAH that casserole. Still need to make that ;)

SO... my mom is on her way to The Wack (that's Waco for all you non-Waconians out there) as we speak!! At the least, I'm super excited! Mom and I have a day planned of baking her delicious breakfast casserole for tomorrow's Easter brunch during church. Might I add, it has meat in it ;) Woop! Lent is almost over. Well wish us luck as we use the dorm kitchen down the hall. It's no state of the art oven or anything, but it'll do the job hehe. I'll be sure to take some pics of our creation, just so you can drool over how scrumptious it looks ;) The rest of the day is unplanned, but knowing my mom and me, we'll come up with something entertaining for ourselves!

Later bloggies,
Amy
this was back in November, when my friend Solange and I first tried out the dorm oven...it did fine for cookies, but we'll see about a casserole! ha :P

Do you have a favorite thing to bake?

What a GOOD Friday!

So here I am again sittin' in my fav lil' coffee shop studying away! It's nice though, I have the day off of school because of Good Friday and and and !!!! I also have Monday off! :D This makes for a very happy Amy! HELLO 4 DAY WEEKEND. I, unlike most of my Baylor friends, am not going home. I chose to stay in town so I could sing with my church choir here in Waco for all the Holy Week services, and to take advantage of a quiet campus so I could study! My mom is coming in tomorrow afternoon :) My mom and I are super close and love spending time together. That's something I really miss. She'll be here around noon tomorrow. We have plans to bake her delicious breakfast casserole for Easter brunch at church mmmmm I can't wait! After that's done, maybe we'll go for a walk in Cameron Park. Excited to see my "maw-meh", as I call her, but finals and juries are in ONE week! Happy thoughts and prayers from everyone would be much appreciated. I can't believe my freshman year is almost over! WOW! ah, so back to my studying I go.

Here's some classical music for your enjoyment. I've been on a kick lately. The Baylor A Cappella Choir sang this last week at the Annual President's Concert, and they were amazing! I've been listening to Carmena Burana since then.

What kind of music are you listening to at the moment?
Do you have a fav coffee shop?

blessings,
Amy

An die Musik: "To Music"

I would just like to take this moment to express how thankful I am for music, and its place in my life. I can't imagine how I would have gotten through the past 19 years of my life without it. It comforts and soothes my soul when nothing else can, and absolutely moves me to tears for no apparent reason. It is unexplainable and unfathomable how much music has impacted me. My thanks are unexplainable and are very hard to express in words. So why all this joy and thankgiving you ask? Well I'm working on this song this semester, and basically it is a love song to music. So, I introduce "An die Musik", by Schubert:

Is she not just absolutely elegant? mmm I think I've listened to this over and over again for the past 30 minutes as I've sat here typing this. Well the text you ask? It is in the gorgeous German language and translates to this:...and yes I did say that German was gorgeous, get over it ;)

German-                                                                      English-

Du holde Kunst, in wieviel grauen Stunden,
Wo mich des Lebens wilder Kreis umstrickt,
Hast du mein Herz zu warmer Lieb' entzunden,
Hast mich in eine beßre Welt entrückt!

Oft hat ein Seufzer, deiner Harf' entflossen,
Ein süßer, heiliger Akkord von dir
Den Himmel beßrer Zeiten mir erschlossen,
Du holde Kunst, ich danke dir dafür!
Oh lovely Art, in how many grey hours,
When life's fierce orbit ensnared me,
Have you kindled my heart to warm love,
Carried me away into a better world!

How often has a sigh escaping from your harp,
A sweet, sacred chord of yours
Opened up for me the heaven of better times,
Oh lovely Art, for that I thank you!

I can't get over the simplistic beauty of this poem, the text itself, let alone the music. So here's to channeling my inner gratefulness to this art that consumes my life, music. I can only hope I'll be able to express my thanks as I perform this piece. Thank you Schubert and Schober for this lovely reminder and for yet another much needed moment of peace.

enjoy,
Amy

bows.

So what do I do when I should and could be sleeping? Seeing as I'm done with all my school work and practicing, you'd think sleep. But no...I knit! :) guilty. for sure.

So I came up with a new bow for my hair...haven't decided if I'm gonna add it to the SHOP yet, but wanted something for me to wear! 'lil treat for myself, in celebration of success on all my tests/projects/quizzes from last week! Can't wait to wear it tomorrow!

Do you have a guilty pleasure? (knitting gets me EVERY time)
Think I should add it to my shop?

**curious about said "SHOP" above? promise to blog about it later, but for the time being, check it out!

g'night bloggies :)

**Ciao bloggers, Amy

April "Cools" Day!

It's April 1st...[well, that's when I originally meant to write this post]...a day that most people get jokes played on them. Well, fortunately, I didn't get tricked once! But I did get a nice 'lil surprise:

I got my first of 12 monthly mix-CDs from one of my friends, Janna :) I started this totally awesome exchange group consisting of 12 of my friends here at Baylor, where we are all assigned one month out of the year to make a mix CD. We produce that CD 11 times and distribute them amoung the group. Soo...every month, we all get a new CD filled with music, and not to mention it's FREE :) I'm so excited!!

DO YOU HAVE ANY COOL GROUPS LIKE THIS?
WHAT FUN THINGS DO YOU DO WITH YOUR MUSIC?

Later bloggers :) -Amy
