...well not completely.
So for those of you who don't know, right now we are in the season of Lent: a time in the Christian Year that Christian's use as a time of preparation until the time of celebration when Jesus is resurrected on Easter Sunday! The tradition, for most, is to give up something for this period of 40 days, in hopes of growing closer to God by the absence of whatever is given up...or you can take on something. I usually don't like to share what I've chosen to do each Lent, because I feel like it should be a personal thing between me and God, but this year I felt like sharing.
So, if you can't tell from the title of this post, I've chosen to give up meat. I thought of the idea a while back, but kept shooting it down, because, no lie, I REALLY enjoy a good burger every now and then. Also, I didn't really believe that I'd be able to uphold my commitment. However, for some reason, the subject of vegetarianism, healthy eating, and things of that sort kept coming...so I decided to run with it (except for one day a week).
So I've completely taken meat out of my diet, for the time being, and have totally noticed a difference in how I feel. My energy has significantly increased, and not to mention I've been eating WAY more veggies than I used to. Don't get me wrong, it's definitely a challenge, especially living on campus and having to make due with what the dining halls have for selection.
and you probably don't really care, and I guess I'm really writing this for my own accountability...but hey! whatever works. right? :) So thanks for listening to me ramble. I'm sure there will be more later :P Now, for your enjoyment:
